It is so easy to want the best of everything for your children. Too often it is possible to involve your children in more activities than they can adequately commit. Please take a serious look at the level of commitment required by participation in an Undercroft Players Youth Production and weigh it against the demands of school work, extracurricular activities and family activities.
It is very difficult to produce a quality show with just weeks until opening night. Part of our commitment to you is to provide a professional learning experience, and this is difficult if attendance is inconsistent. Every cast member and every part is important and absences create a gap that affects the learning experience of fellow cast members. Please check our dates against your schedule before signing our Youth Contract.
Points to note:
1. Rehearsal times will be strictly followed. Attendance will be taken at the start of all rehearsals. You must be present, and if required, in costume and ready to go at the start of rehearsal. It is suggested you always arrive at least ten minutes early. If you are not present for attendance you will be marked "tardy" or "late". If you are not present fifteen minutes after attendance is taken you will be marked "absent".
2. All rehearsals must be attended unless otherwise stated by the Director. (If your character is not scheduled on stage for that rehearsal and the Director has not called for your attendance you do not need to attend rehearsal.) Otherwise, each participant is allowed only three absences. Three "tardy" or "late" marks will count as one "absence". If you accumulate three "absences" the next "tardy" or "late" mark will result in dismissal from the show. Please note there are no excused late arrivals or absences. You are still expected to inform the Director if you anticipate being late or absent for a rehearsal. Make sure to put the Director's phone number into your phone at the first rehearsal so you always have the number if you need to call.
3. Tech Week (the week before the show opens) and Performances: Everyone MUST be ON TIME for Call. If one is late (without a call to the Director informing her of an emergency you are experiencing) your part will be re-cast and you may be dismissed from the show (even if it is opening night or closing night). The only exceptions are severe illness with a doctor's note, an accident or a death in the family. Call is usually one hour before show time.
4. Inappropriate Behavior: A reprimand for inappropriate behavior will count as a "tardy" or "late" mark. Three reprimands for inappropriate behavior will follow the same rule as the "tardy" rule. If the behavior is deemed completely unacceptable or dangerous, immediate dismissal from the production will result.
5. Refunds: Once a participant is cast in a show and the fee for participation is paid, there will be no refunds given to anyone who leaves the program through their own volition or by request of the Director.
6. Each participant must be signed out after each and every rehearsal and show. This is for the child's safety as well as your peace of mind. It also allows you to hear any announcements given at the end of rehearsal and check in with the Director if needed. It is suggested you always arrive at least ten minutes prior to the end of rehearsal. If you are not present fifteen minutes after rehearsal has ended your child will receive a "tardy" mark on his/her attendance.
If your child is being picked up by someone other than yourself, you must give the Director a written note with the following information: the child's name, your name, the date(s) for the change, the name of the person given permission by you to sign your child out (that person will be asked to show a picture ID before they will be allowed to leave with your child). If your child is of driving age and you are allowing him/her to drive to and from rehearsals/shows please provide a note to the Director with your name, your child's name and your permission for him/her to sign themselves out after rehearsals/shows.
7. Video and photos will not be allowed to be taken during the performances unless stated otherwise.
