Conflict Policy: Secrets To Success. It is so easy to want the best of everything for your child! All too often, however, it is possible to involve children in more activities to which they can adequately commit. Families should take a serious look at the level of commitment required by participating in an Undercroft Players production and weigh it against the possible demands of extracurricular activities, family vacations and schoolwork.
It is very difficult to produce a quality show when directors do not have consistency in rehearsals. The staff often does not have time to re-teach blocking and dances that participants have missed. Part of our commitment to you is to provide a professional learning experience and this is difficult to accomplish if attendance is poor. Every cast member is important and there is a hole when they are missing that effects the learning experience of fellow cast members. This is why we require all participants and parents to sign a "Youth Theatre Contract" outlining the responsibilities that go with accepting a part.
Please read our conflict policy and look at the dates we have posted in order to make a well-informed decision before participating in one of our productions.
1. Conflicts must be submitted at the time of auditions. We typically won't cast anyone who will miss or be more than 15 minutes late to more to three (3) posted rehearsal dates (Vacation times may be an exception). Parents, please check your planners!
2. All conflicts must be noted at the time of auditions in order for the director to build a workable schedule for everyone.
3. After casting has been finalized, additional conflicts or new conflicts may lead to the participant being dropped from the show or at the very least recast to a role that will accommodate the absences (a smaller role).
4. Participants will not be cast if they have a conflict during tech week or on one of the performance dates/times. Tech week is the week (or three or four days) before the show opens. Any unexcused absence during this time may be grounds for dismissal from the show.
5. We reserve the right not to cast a participant if that person has an excessive number of conflicts or has demonstrated poor judgment/decision making/discipline in their most recent participation in our program.
